TalkTalk (Carphonewarehouse ISP) have implimented a fair usage policy that using bandwith shaping to block P2P network traffic from 8am to midnight (edit: now informed it's 1am). Fair enough, but why advertise 40Gb if you're not allowed to use it?
The interesting downside is that this has so far affected Steam (see my previous post) and World of Warcraft.
Their fair usage is pretty broad and clearly the people setting up the shaping don't know what they are doing...or do they... maybe a bit of both.
To find out why steam is not working requires calling their tech support number at 50p a min!
The problem is now that their Fair usage policy and FAQ don't sing from the same hymn sheet!
